CIM applicants must have at least 2 years of relevant work experience within the past 5 years involved in an investment management capacity that includes applying or supervising any aspect of the investment management process.
Roles that relate to, support or add value to the investment management process such as Investment Analyst, Corporate Finance Officer, Equity, Fixed Income or Derivatives Trader, Administration Officer (Back Office Support), Compliance Officer, Supervisor... are eligible to meet the CIM work experience requirements.
Work experience must be verified upon application for the CIM.
Apply with CSI to become a CIM. When applying you must commit to the CIM Code of Ethics and agree to the terms of the CIM Certification Mark Licence Agreement, which grants you the right to use the CIM trademarks in your own marketing. The initial application fee is $325 and includes your licence fee for the year, your commitment to the maintenance requirements and your Fit and Proper Declaration.
Once your application is approved by Canadian Securities Insitute, you will have earned the CIM designation.
